10 years of Carmen DO the project to save Chile’s heritage vineyards
Carmen DO, Viña Carmen’s project aimed at preserving Chile’s unique heritage vineyards, marks its 10th anniversary this month. It is a range of artisanal-scale wines which celebrates the preservation of old or commercially marginal vines and varieties nurtured by small growers across Chile and, as such, is of enormous viticultural importance in a country that is often erroneously depicted as making 'safe' wines. Ana María Cumsille, Head Winemaker of Viña Carmen, was in London to celebrate the project and Heather Dougherty was ringside for The Buyer to hear of its achievements and to taste the new vintages.
