90% of Barossa vineyard area now participating in national sustainability program
Barossa Australia has revealed that more than 300 Barossa vineyards and wineries are now participating in Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, with over 80% achieving independent certification. 12,768 Ha (90%) of Barossa’s 14,162 Ha under-vine is participating in Sustainable Winegrowing Australia — a 1,264 hectare (10%) increase on the previous year. 303 Barossa vineyards and wineries are now members of the program (an increase of 66% in the past two years). Additionally, over 80% (244) of Barossa members are certified, which means they have reached ‘best practice’ authorised by a third-party audit under the internationally recognised Freshcare standard.
