Wine Tasmania identifies challenges, maps out solutions, in Workforce Discussion Paper

Tasmania’s wine industry is one of the few that is still in growth in 2026. This is true not only for Australia but globally, with volumes up 15 per cent and value up 23 per cent year-on-year in the 2025 vintage.

Taking a longer view, the volume crushed has more than doubled since 2015, increasing from 7,197 tonnes to 17,255 tonnes, while its total value has more than tripled to a worth of $67.4 million.

However, as regional body Wine Tasmania outlined in the state's first formal workforce plan since 2013, the next five years will be critical for consolidating the region’s strong momentum as it continues to face a number of structural challenges.
