TWE sells Rouge Homme back to Redman Wines

After 60 years, the historic Coonawarra wine brand Rouge Homme has returned back to its original owners in what marks a milestone moment for the Redman family.

First bottled in 1952, the brand which translates to “red man” in French was the Redman family’s first own label after many years of producing bulk wine for businesses such as Yalumba, Penfolds and Lindeman’s.

By 1965, the Rouge Homme winery, label and vineyard acreage were acquired by Lindeman’s, which continued to market and sell wine under the Rouge Homme brand before eventually forming part of Treasury Wine Estates. Redman Wines was launched one year after this in 1966.

Production of Rouge Homme has since started to wind down over the past decade amid TWE’s shift towards a heavier focus on luxury brands.
