Australia claims 10% of Best in Show titles at Decanter Wine Awards

Australian wine has demonstrated its second-strongest performance to date at the Decanter World Wine Awards, securing 85 top-tier medals and five of the 50 Best in Show titles.

Notably, Hill-Smith Family Estates clinched two of these, with Pewsey Vale Estate Riesling 2025 and Dalrymple Single Site Estate Pipers River Pinot Noir 2024 both ranking among the top 0.3 per cent of entries in the global competition.

"We have always regarded Pewsey Vale Vineyard as one of the great riesling Estates of the world and awards such as this amplify the history and quality of the site and the consistency of its wine folio," said HSFE propietor Robert Hill-Smith.

“Dalrymple Vineyards have had a strong footprint in Tasmanian winemaking since 1987 ... The Pipers River site, home to this award-winning wine, is alongside the original winery and has been meticulously managed by [Vigneron Peter] Caldwell to consistently express site personality of the highest quality.”
