Every generation of wine has its defining conversation. Fifty years ago, it was technology. Then came terroir. More recently, sustainability.

At the inaugural 2026 Island Wines Summit in Tenerife, another conversation quietly emerged.

Not simply about how wine is made, where it is grown, or which varieties are planted. But about how wine is understood, how wine regions define themselves, and how the language of place may need to evolve for a new generation of drinkers. It may prove to be one of the most important conversations our industry has in the coming decade.
