Farmers pay the price as SA wine exports to the US fall by 64% since 2023

South African wine volumes exported to the United States fell by 64% between 2023 and the first half of 2026, according to customs data from the United States International Trade Commission (USITC). This compares with a 21% fall for Chile over the same period.
