Introducing the Halliday Wine Award finalists “doing things differently”The shortlist for the 2027 Halliday Wine Companion Awards has been unveiled, with a particularly “impressive showing” from South Australia’s McLaren Vale region and an influx of micro-producers vying for the top award. To determine the shortlist, the Halliday Tasting Team reviewed 7,520 wines from 1,033 wineries. Notably, 68 wineries submitted for the first time, making it a record-breaking year for new entrants. The shortlist includes six major categories: Winery of the Year, Winemaker of the Year, Viticulturist of the Year, Best New Winery, Best Value Winery, and Dark Horse Winery, with the winning producers set to be announced at an awards ceremony on 19 August.
