Jim Barry Wines appoints first female senior winemaker in 67-year history

Jim Barry Wines has announced the appointment of Topsi Wallace as its senior winemaker, making her the first female to hold the position in its 67 years of operation. The winery said that the appointment recognises her six years of “outstanding contribution” to the family-owned winery and the “pivotal role” she has played across all aspects of winemaking. Jim Barry Wines explained that she consistently demonstrates exceptional technical skill, leadership, sound judgement, and a deep understanding of the brand’s philosophy. Director of winemaking Tom Barry said that Wallace has “more than earned this role”. “Her work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to lead with confidence and clarity have been evident for years. This appointment is a natural progression based on merit, experience, and results,” he said.
