Krebiehl meets Lécaillon: the inner workings of the House of Roederer
2026 marks a triple celebration for Champagne Louis Roederer: the 250th anniversary of its foundation in 1776, the 150th anniversary of the creation of its prestige cuvée Cristal in 1876 and the 15th of Fondation Roederer, a trust that supports the arts. Still owned by the founding family, the house is at the forefront of changing how we think about Champagne, about its culture, farming and winemaking. The man behind the house’s bold progressive stance, and central to its success, is longstanding cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon. Anne Krebiehl MW speaks to him about his inspiration, implementing change for the past 37 years and turning Louis Roederer into a lighthouse for the entire region.
