New head winemaker at Alpha Box & Dice for first time in a decade

For the first time in a decade, McLaren Vale winery Alpha Box & Dice has a new head winemaker. Rachel McBryde, who joined the business in 2024, steps into the role following Sam Berketa's ten-year tenure, bringing “international experience, a passion for lesser-known varieties and a fresh perspective to its ever-evolving Alphabet of Wine”. Her career has taken her around the world, from Marlborough in New Zealand to Napa Valley and Ontario in North America. McBryde also spent five years working across d'Arenberg and Gemtree in McLaren Vale, explored sparkling winemaking in the Adelaide Hills and spent three years in Coonawarra at Katnook Estate and Penley Estate, working with some of Australia's most celebrated Cabernet Sauvignon.
