Nick Ryan to host masterclass comparing Italian and Australian varietal expressions

Burnside Village ambassador and acclaimed wine writer Nick Ryan is set to host an “immersive food and wine masterclass” at Eccoci Ristorante this Wednesday to answer the question, “what happens when Italy’s most celebrated grape varieties meet their Australian counterparts at the same table?”. The event, titled La Grande Tavola, will feature a five-course degustation, with each course presenting an Italian wine from its grape variety’s home region alongside an Australian wine of that same grape, inviting guests “to taste how place, climate and craft can transform a familiar variety into something entirely new”. Ryan explained that he will guide guests through the stories behind each wine, sharing the observations and contrasts that have made Italian varieties such an exciting part of Australia’s contemporary wine conversation.
