Renowned winemaker reveals new focus on namesake brand following departure from Endeavour

Endeavour Group has confirmed that David Bicknell has departed from his position as chief winemaker at Oakridge Wines in the Yarra Valley. Daily Wine News reached out to Bicknell to discuss his future plans. “I have a small family winemaking business, Bicknell FC, which we started in 2011. So far, it’s been a bit of a busman’s holiday as I was completely consumed at Oakridge. The only current plan is to concentrate on developing that business, although I will be happy to talk anyone interested in my services,” he shared. Bicknell’s wines can be purchased directly via his website or through its distributor Real Wines. David Bicknell led winemaking at Oakridge Wines for nearly 25 years, beginning his time there in 2002. Under his leadership, Oakridge was awarded the number one winery in Australia by both the Halliday Wine Companion and The Real Review in 2023. He announced his departure via a post to Instagram on Monday.
