The worldwide launch of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2023 took place this week in the London HQ of UK importer Corney&Barrow. Tasting the wines in the company of DRC’s Perrine Fenal and Bertrand de Villaine, Peter Dean argues that the wines confound your preconceptions of what a solar vintage (and the hottest ever) in Burgundy would taste like. The fact that they are as good as they are was down to having a bumper crop to play with, the adaptation of the vines, and the techniques employed by the DRC team both in the vineyard and winery.
