Ernst Loosen from the Mosel’s Dr Loosen Mosel estate is not averse to a bit of collaborative winemaking, having launched the “Eroica” Riesling in partnership with Chateau Ste. Michelle from Washington State back in 1999. With Sam Barry from the Barry family estate in Clare, South Australia, however, Loosen has formed LoosenBarry which brings these two Riesling legends together for the first time. Roger Jones met up with them for the launch of the new LoosenBarry Slate Hill Riesling 2023 and tastes through a range of the Wolta Wolta Rieslings.
