The Buyer | How June’s Winelands Festival will toast Sussex as cradle of UK wine
With a host of pioneer wineries, more vineyards than any other English county and the home of oenology Mecca Plumpton College, Sussex has every right to claim that it's the cradle of UK wine – especially as it's the first English county to have its own PDO. This June, East Sussex county town, Lewes, is putting on Winelands Festival, a week of events that will turn the spotlight on Sussex Wine. Following the success of the first Winelands last year, coordinator and ex-WineGB director, Dominic Buckwell, explains why Sussex is at the forefront of English wine and previews this year's tastings, dinners, masterclasses, and individual events.
