The miracle of the Madonna delle Grazie Riserva does not happen very often – in fact it has only ever occurred twice in the 51 years that Il Marroneto has been making wine in Montalcino – once in 2013 and now a second time with this month’s release of the 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie Riserva. As Iacopo Mori explains to Peter Dean it’s a bit of a mystery why one barrel of the estate’s top wine, every now and then, is a law unto itself and gives more of everything, demanding that the team releases it as a unique cuvée.
