Why Patagonias Neuquén is a wine region worth watching
Twenty-five years after San Patricio del Chañar emerged as a new wine region, energy, irrigation and investment are changing the context around wine in this little-known corner of northern Patagonia. Neuquén lies around 1,150 kilometres southwest of Buenos Aires. The province covers almost 95,000 square kilometres, larger than Austria, and its landscapes change considerably from west to east. Along the Chilean border are the Andes, lakes and forests. Further east, the landscape opens into valleys, dry plateaux and the Patagonian steppe. Patagonion wine expert Sergio Landoni casts his eye over why this wine region deserves your attention.
