The Buyer | Stéphane Ogiers Mes Grands Lieux: a fine return to Côte Rôtie tradition
Since returning from his studies in Beaune, Stéphane Ogier has transformed his family domaine into one of the most critically acclaimed names in the Rhône Valley. By applying a Burgundian obsession for parcel-specific viticulture to the steep slopes of the Northern Rhône, he is marking the beginning of a new expression of Côte-Rôtie. Ogier was recently in London for the global launch of the new Mes Grands Lieux 2016 – a multi-plot blend that shows of the character of a vintage – released with 10 years of age on the wine. Heather Dougherty met up with Ogier, tasted through a range of both older and forthcoming vintages and discovered how the wine marks a return to classic Côte-Rôtie tradition.
