Zenos David Hodgson: stop treating alcohol-free as an afterthought

They may not have succeeded in securing any funding from any of the “Dragons” on BBC’s “The Dragon’s Den” but the fact that the founders of Zeno , widely recognised as one of the leading examples of premium alcohol-free wine, were actually there making their pitch on national TV for a 0% wine shows how far the category has come in the last few years. The opportunity was not just great PR for the brand, but it was the chance for Zeno to make the case for why no and low wine now deserves to be taken seriously by both the public and the drinks industry itself. Here Zeno co-founder, David Hodgson, explains why its focus on quality winemaking is what is going to take the whole zero ABV wine category to another level. As he says: “Alcohol-free wine shouldn't be defined by what it lacks. It should be defined by what it offers: provenance, winemaking, flavour, food compatibility, occasion and, ultimately, enjoyment.” The consumer increasingly understands that, it’s time, he argues, for the drinks industry to catch up and making the most of the alcohol free premium wine category.
