Portuguese winery turns to night harvesting as temperatures hit 40°C

A Portuguese wine estate has moved its grape harvest into the night as daytime temperatures increasingly exceed 40°C, protecting workers from extreme heat and delivering cooler fruit to the winery. Herdade das Servas says nocturnal picking has become a necessity in the Alentejo, where this year's harvest began two weeks earlier than usual.
