Second generation takes the reins at Mortimers Wines in Orange

More than 30 years after husband-and-wife duo Peter and Julie founded Mortimers Wines, son Daniel and his wife Tasley have now taken ownership of the winery, becoming the second generation to lead the family business. For Daniel Mortimer, the path to ownership of Mortimers Wines began in childhood, working in the vineyard on the family property in Orange alongside his parents and his four brothers. Daniel returned to Orange in 2019 following a 10-year NRL career, which included a Grand Final appearance with the Parramatta Eels in 2009 and a Premiership with the Sydney Roosters in 2013. “Long before rugby league, I was growing up amongst the vines on our family property just north of Orange. It’s always been a big part of who I am, and I’m incredibly excited to carry the family legacy forward,” he said.
